Communicating Investment Results

Presenter: Craig C. Wruck, Minnesota Medical Foundation at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN
(Broadcast date: 11/16/05)

Program Description

Donors and beneficiaries who have an understanding and appreciation of the details behind the investment return will be more satisfied and, over the long term, are more likely to be repeat donors. This session will help gift planners understand the benefits of full and complete disclosure of investment risks and rewards prior to the gift, and will suggest strategies and methods for educating donors and beneficiaries in setting realistic expectations, which will help ensure donor satisfaction no matter what the future investment environment may bring. This presentation was originally presented at the 2004 National Conference on Planned Giving.

Learning objectives for this presentation include:
  • The benefit of complete disclosure and communication of investment results, whether positive or negative.
  • The critical need to set and manage donors’ investment expectations.
  • The importance of benchmarking in the reporting of investment results.
